Yes, typically you split the full bill total including tax. The bill amount field should include any taxes. The tip is calculated on top of that total, and then everything is divided among the people.
How do I handle uneven splits?
Use the custom shares section to assign specific amounts to each person. For example, if someone ordered a much more expensive dish, enter their item cost directly. The remaining balance is split evenly among the rest.
How is rounding handled?
The tool calculates to two decimal places for each person. If the sum of all shares doesn't exactly match the total due to rounding, the first person absorbs the small difference (usually a few cents).
