NOVA WAVES is the synthwave project of producer and multi-instrumentalist Lena Søren, built around the simple idea that pop music can feel like a haunted cathedral.
Formed in 2021 after a series of late-night SoundCloud uploads unexpectedly went viral, the project quickly grew into a full live band — four musicians united by an obsession with analog synths, blown-out drum machines, and choruses that hit like a power surge.
Their 2023 debut Midnight Engine earned praise from Pitchfork, NME, and The FADER, and landed them on festival bills across Europe. Phantom Frequencies is the follow-up — bigger, stranger, and recorded entirely to tape in a converted Berlin warehouse.
