Wordle
Guess the hidden five-letter word in six tries using color-coded clues.
What Is Wordle?
Wordle is a word-guessing puzzle where you try to identify a hidden five-letter word within six guesses. After each guess, every letter is colored to show whether it's correct, present elsewhere in the word, or not in the word at all, guiding your next attempt. This version isn't limited to one puzzle a day — press New Word whenever you want another round.
How to Play
- Type a five-letter word using your keyboard or the on-screen keys, then press Enter
- Check the tile colors after each guess and use them to narrow down the word
- Keep guessing until you find the word or run out of your six attempts
Strategy Tips
- Open with a word that uses common vowels and consonants to gather the most information
- Use the colored feedback from every guess to narrow down letter positions before your next try
- Avoid repeating a gray letter in later guesses since it has already been ruled out
- Save any letter that shows both yellow and green clues for a priority spot in your next word
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play more than once?
Yes. Unlike the original daily Wordle, this version lets you press New Word any time for a fresh puzzle, so you can play as many rounds as you want.
What's a good starting word?
Pick a word with several different common letters, especially vowels — words like CRANE or ADIEU work well because they test a lot of frequently used letters in one guess.
What do the tile colors mean?
Green means the letter is correct and in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the word but in a different spot, and gray means the letter is not in the word.
How does scoring work when a letter appears more than once in the word?
Correct-position matches are marked green first. Any remaining copies of that letter in your guess are marked yellow only up to how many times it actually appears in the answer — extra copies beyond that are marked gray.
Can I use my keyboard to type guesses?
Yes, you can type letters directly on a physical keyboard, or tap the on-screen keyboard shown below the grid on any device.
