What This Tool Does

Every pixel in a digital picture is a specific color. This tool reads the pixel under your cursor when you click on the canvas and reports it as a HEX code, RGB values, and HSL values, so you can match colors for design work.

Steps to Pick a Color

  1. Load a picture into the box above
  2. Move your mouse over the picture to see a live preview of the color under the cursor
  3. Click to lock in a color and add it to your saved swatches
  4. Click any saved swatch to copy its HEX code

What You Get

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the color look slightly different from what I expected?

Zoomed-out previews can blend nearby pixels visually, but the tool always reads the exact underlying pixel value, not a blended average.

Can I pick colors from a photo, not just a graphic?

Yes, this works on any picture, including photographs, screenshots, and illustrations.

What is the difference between HEX, RGB, and HSL?

HEX and RGB both describe a color using red, green, and blue amounts, just in different notations. HSL describes the same color using hue, saturation, and lightness instead.

How many colors can I save?

There is no fixed limit. Each click adds another swatch to the list for that session.

Do the swatches stay after I close the tab?

No, the swatch list is only kept in memory for the current session and clears when you leave or reload the page.
