What This Tool Does
An image file carries more than pixels. It also stores basic file properties such as size, dimensions, and format, and JPG files often carry EXIF data written by a camera or phone, including the make, model, and the date a photo was taken. This tool reads and lists whatever of that information is present in your file, entirely in your browser.

What is EXIF data?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata that cameras and phones write directly into a JPG file. It can include the camera make and model, the date and time a photo was taken, exposure settings, and sometimes GPS coordinates.
Does this show my location if the photo has GPS data?
If GPS coordinates are embedded in the file, they will be listed. Be careful sharing such photos publicly if you'd rather not reveal where they were taken.
Why do some pictures show no EXIF data?
EXIF is only embedded by certain devices and software, and many websites and messaging apps strip it out when a photo is uploaded, shared, or edited. PNG and WebP files typically don't carry EXIF at all.
Does this tool read PNG, WebP, or HEIC files?
File details like size and dimensions are shown for any image type. Camera EXIF data is only read from JPG files, since that's the format cameras and phones actually embed it in. Convert a HEIC photo to JPG first if you need to check its EXIF data.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. This tool reads the file entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The image itself is never sent anywhere, so private photo details stay on your device.
Can I remove EXIF data from a photo?
This tool only reads and displays metadata. To strip it, resave the picture through an image resizer or compressor, which produces a fresh file without the original EXIF block.
